Lease Disputes

Residential Leases Landlords and tenants have specific responsibilities under Missouri law. In general, tenants have a duty to pay rent on time, take reasonable care of the property, not allow other persons to reside in the property or sublease without the landlord's permission, and to turn over the property to the landlord at the end of the lease.  On the other hand, landlords are obligated to make the property habitable before the tenant moves in, to pay for repairs that result from ordinary wear and tear, to refrain from turning off basic utilities such as water or electricity, to not discriminate unlawfully, and to inform tenants when there will be a change of ownership.
